Hummus recipe

This recipe for hummus is creamy, tasty, and created with healthy ingredients, making it ideal as a snack, spread, or dip. In only ten minutes, you can make this delectable Middle Eastern dip at home thanks to its silky texture and ideal ratio of garlic, lemon, and tahini.

INGREDIENTS :

• 1 ½ cups cooked chickpeas (or one 15-ounce can, drained and rinsed)

• ¼ cup tahini (sesame paste)

• 2-3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (about 1 large lemon)

• 1 small garlic clove, minced (adjust for preference)

• 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, plus more for serving

• 2-4 tablespoons cold water (adjust for consistency)

• ½ teaspoon ground cumin (optional, for warmth and   depth)

• ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste

• Paprika and fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS :

1• Prepare the chickpeas : If using canned chickpeas, drain and rinse them under cold water. For an extra smooth hummus, you can peel the chickpeas by gently rubbing them between your fingers and discarding the skins.

2• Blend the tahini and lemon juice : In a food processor, combine the tahini and lemon juice. Blend for about 1 minute, stopping to scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl as needed. This helps create a smooth and creamy base.

3• Add the garlic, cumin, and salt : To the tahini-lemon mixture, add the minced garlic, ground cumin (if using), and salt. Blend for another 30 seconds until everything is well combined.

4• Incorporate the chickpeas : Add half of the chickpeas to the food processor and blend for 1 minute. Scrape down the sides of the bowl, then add the remaining chickpeas. Blend for another 1-2 minutes until the hummus is thick and smooth.

5• Adjust the consistency : With the food processor running, drizzle in the olive oil and cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the hummus reaches your desired consistency. For a lighter, creamier texture, you may need to add more water.

6• Taste and adjust : Taste the hummus and adjust the seasoning as needed. Add more salt, lemon juice, or garlic based on your preferences.

7• Serve and garnish : Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with paprika and fresh parsley for garnish. You can also add toppings like toasted pine nuts or whole chickpeas for texture.

Tips :

a• Make ahead : Hummus can be made in advance and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. The flavors develop over time, making it even tastier the next day.

b• Serving ideas : Serve hummus with fresh vegetables, pita bread, or crackers. It’s also great as a spread on sandwiches or wraps.

Final Thoughts :

Hummus is versatile, healthy, and incredibly easy to make. Once you try this homemade version, you'll never want to buy store-bought again! Feel free to customize it by adding roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, or herbs for a unique twist.

Enjoy this creamy and delightful hummus with your favorite accompaniments!
